On Tuesday, June 30th, the children and staff of Shepherd’s Field were treated to a concert compliments of Professor In-Hong Cha. They sang some songs. Then we sang some sangs. All in our first ever hangout in the new Outreach Center. A big THANK YOU to Penny’s Gang for spending the day with us! They were a great encouragement to our staff and lots of fun for our kids.

Some friends of ours, Jessica & Brad, have been teaching at one of Langfang’s universities, and they bring their Chinese university students and foreign teaching colleagues every month to love on our kids. They have chosen our House of Blessings as Their house to serve in, and we are so grateful for their time. I love LOVE the video Brad put together and wanted to share. If this link doesn’t work, look for user Bard203 at Youtube & PHF 10-28-08.

Langfang Walmart Visit
I’ve been rummaging through our old digital pictures tonight. I am blown away by the number of people who have come alongside PHF and given of their talents & resources to bless these kids. The U.S. Marines has done Toys for Tots for our kids the last six years. The Langfang Walmart invited our kids to a pre-Grand Opening Celebration, set up just for our kids.

Steven Ose
Friend Steven Ose attempted a Ride Across America to raise money for the vocational center. The Nippon Paint factory in Langfang donates all the paint we need, whenever we need it!
Numerous churches, organizations, and businesses have sponsored our children’s homes, providing well-maintained housing and full time maintenance staff to keep the kids cozy. I met someone today who three years ago had donated the three terracotta warriors now in our office.
I hesitate to mention any names, because I know I’ll leave hundreds more out, but what a beautiful partnership this has been! May He continue to Bless.

Three doctors. 36 Volunteers. Two Days. 12 Hours. 992 Clients.

Trying to manage the crowds
What a whirlwind week! We had three teams here serving our kids & community, including a slew of volunteers here to run Luxottica Group Foundation’s two day Gift of Sight . Though one of the smaller projects of the more than 130 they’ve done in the last 17 years, we were proud to partner with them to reach out to our local staff and community on Oct 23 & 24. Our hearts rejoiced with the seventy-year-old woman who received her first pair of glasses and saw clearly for the first time. Another woman in her late thirties was the first I’ve met who delighted in her wrinkles, newly revealed by her first pair of glasses. Our upcoming Oct/Nov newsletter has pictures of the project, but check out our Picasa album, too, for more soon-to-be-posted pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/PhilipHaydenFoundation.

- Hayden Sun Yuanyuan
Six-year-old Hayden Sun Yuanyuan is always quick to pull guests down to sit next to her and chat, and it’s usually more sweet command than gentle request. Though here just a short time–she moved to House of Love in July–she’s quickly captured our hearts. Hayden has a large tumor on her cheek, which has grown significantly in the last few months, and tomorrow she heads to a surgery team in Hefei with Dr. Moody. U.S. Surgeon Dr. Lisa Buckmiller will meet them there to help remove the tumor from Hayden’s face. This is a very delicate surgery, as the mass is attached to the nerves in her cheek, and we ask for your prayers in guiding the surgeons & giving Hayden peace. We know she has a long healing journey ahead of her, and we can’t wait to see her back home. We lift her up to Jehovah Rapha–our God who Heals.
